first some info on the Osprey.
in case you don't want to watch the whole thing or don't really understand it, i'll summarise it for you.
it's a plane that's propellor engines can tilt upward so it can hover.
it has a hatch at the back that opens up into a ramp so that tanks weighing 10 tons can be carried from the UK to Iraq at almost twice the speed of sound.
this uses about as much fuel as it takes to drive your car to the shops, not forgetting that the fuel tank on these things is about the s of your entire family car.
the downtrust from the engines while in hover mode is so powerful it can deflect bullets away from the aircraft.
so powerful in fact that it tends to destroy the runway of any aiport or aircraft carrier it lands on.
it constantly crashes because it's unstable as and each one costs almost a billion dollars, though they keep using it.
and after all that the only weapons on it are only for shooting people because they're not powerful enough to shoot through metal.
and THIS was the vehicle Versus' crew decided to name their beta robotic team after.
Osprey Team or O-Team for short has the logo of Mythites or for you uneducated people it's like the eagle from the symbol of American presidency except with an Osprey instead of an eagle.
And by that i mean the aircraft, not the bird of it's namesake, which is so damn typical of Versus that it'a hilarious.
When they were deciding on a name for their team they literally went through the entire alphabet at random discounting each letter for stupid reasons, again very typical of Versus.
Such reasons include "ew F stands for fail" and "P? as in urine?".
It's also a pun that O is an honorific particle an A is an exclaimatory particle in Japanese meaning that the A-Team are loud though the O-Team are respectable.
As opposed to V-tech, O-Team are machines made a lot closer to the budget end of the spectrum.
Instead of being the shining star poser boys, where each is known by name, O-Team are mostly known as nameless masses, who works predominantly as teams.
In game they work as a sort of 1.5 member team with each machine able to work independantly or in tandem with a partner.
Instead of a tag-in/tag-out system, they swap between acting on their own or acting as a team with switching simply being choosing which of the two leaves the other to it.
When playing as them the second member tends to follow close behind the first in battles and will fight enemies autonymously as well, though mostly acting to push them away from themselves.
More than a few comparisons have been made to the Climbers from Smash Bros because of the way they fight.
Being Napam Clan members (technically) they fight using the typical Wushu-based fighting style.
However their style has less influences from branching styles like Muay Thai or Shotakan and is more true to the original style which kinda shows their more simplistic design.
It's the team attacks that make up for their lack of specialist moves in this case.
The O-bots resemble Versus though are more broad even though they're not much shorter than him, think Jack from Tekken.
Their design is very angular with large round shoulders and such, which is kind of reminiscent of early PS1 games like Final Fantasy.
This bizarre form does actually deflect radar so there is some sense to it.
They are full airtight within their armored hull and it also acts as a faraday cage.
This means they don't malfunction underwater and are immune to electrical attacks.
Also interestingly they don't consume air in any way shape or form, even via cooling fans, and are liquid cooled inside.
These robots despite being A.I. driven have their own personalities that all very much resemble Versus himself.
This works as well as you can imagine .
Seen as expendible by the rest of the Napam Clan and as cute lil pets by Versus himself who the O-bots admire and adore, they are in fact surprisingly competant much to both's dismay.
They are the first truly new characters in Gen 3 of Albion and they are as original and decent as we would have hoped for.
Job.
