gonna put the NPC's sprites here.
- human races, anthro races and mimkin races.
- casual clothing, work clothes, formal wear and swimwear.
- various facial expressions and body language.
- standing, sitting, laying down, using various objects.
sounds like a lot though obvious each character only does a select few of those.
- anthropomorph races -
- kanfel -
a kanfel in casual clothing.
kanfel have ties to the dao so their clothing colors are normally chosen very carefully.
the red/blue combination is for variety.
in dao culture, it's the most bland and average clothing and it's normally worn by members with limited magic skill.
basically this outfit screams civilian.
a kanfel in Emerald Dao clothing.
the Emerald Dao are a sub-group of the Dao that teach a variety of skills rather than 1 focus.
Emerald Dao practices are therefore often the first step in Dao training or indeed most any magic training in general.
For that reason the outfit is often associated with amateur magic users though in Sudland it's also common attire for members of authority including people of high status.
essentially it's an outfit for those who want to be seen as above the common rabble though not particularly having any specialty in terms of skills.
this is a Gen tabard.
The Gen are the former authority figures over all of Albion and had a very peaceful and stable rule.
Before that the groups that make up the Gen were all famous heroes with hearts of gold who fought to save the little man against impossible odds.
People still see them as trustworthy and honorable despite the fact they joined the Templan Alliance and are technically still enemies of all of Albion.
Many people joined the Gen to do and still wear their colors so to speak in the tabards they wear even if they fight for another side now.
They respect what the Gen used to be rather than what it has become.
this is a brown tabard.
Within Kanfel circles there are those that wear Hard Tabard clothing (metal, leather, etc) and those who wear Soft Tabard clothing (fabric, fur, etc).
Hard Tabards are people who do hard labor and often work in making a product of some sort like farmers, tailors, woodworkers and blacksmiths.
Though they can also be experienced people with combat skills like bodyguards, bounty hunters, guardsmen, soldiers or mercenaries.
Soft Tabards either work in jobs that produce mess like culinary arts, cleaning, caring for children or artistic endevors or positions above the average worker such as foremen, middlemen, captains, event organisers or spokesmen.
The brown tabard is generally the Hard Tabard variety though it can a Soft Tabard sometimes depending on the line of work.
A brown tabard soldier for ample is generally a step above the average metal armored soldier, a soldier in training or a specialist such as a spy.
A brown tabard cleaner, chef or event organiser by comparison is probably someone who gets down and very dirty in their line of work and most likely on the lower class end of that spectrum.
this is a white tabard

white tabards are soft tabards though they are generally associated with the working man such as cleaners or kitchen staff.
they can be worn by the higher class equivalent of those jobs such as maids and chefs though these are often associated with the working man despite their status possibly by association.
this is a maku tabard.
maku is simply an old Sudland word for purple or pink that's mostly grown out of use though is still used by the Kanfel, the dao and members of magic circles.
maku dye was extremely hard to come by in the old days since purple can't be made by combining red and blue dye.
therefore it was reserved for only the wealthiest of individuals.
however those with money didn't buy into it as a show of power because of the high costs and the way the clothes lost their color when washed so had to be repeatedly dyed.
for those that use magical elements however it was remarkably useful combining both the red and blue trees of the elements.
it also however enabled magic users to manipulate the very soul itself and many highly unethical practices were performed by purple-wearing mages.
however in Sudland monsterkin were able to use this ability for beneficial purposes to heal the sick and mentally unstable.
nowadays the outfit is associated with magic, extreme wealth, low moral standards and healthcare.
a person wearing this says a lot about the inidividual whether it's the message they intend to spread or not.
this is a lightweight outfit.
it's worn by people who need to be athetic and agile, people who's job involves running or climbing.
some people associate it with thieves and spies because of that though it's more likely intended for traversing the jungle or climbing mountains.
Kanfel however are more likely to wear this outfit for the sake of fast-paced combat.
specialist guards, head hunters and infiltrators favor this outfit.
in the Jovian war, Kanfel of this calibur lead the fight against the Earthling invaders and were a common sight on the battlefield.
many still harbor feelings about that war and have some dwelling hatred for Medians and somewhat humans in general.
this is a Shirobai tabard.
when the Gen joined the Templan alliance they rebranded themselves as the Shirobai so as not to be confused with the Voidan forces adopting a white tabard in place of their old green one though keeping the design.
their forces ruled Grenwuld during the 10 alliance war and despite being formerly very leaders their choice to ally with some rather unsavory folk and defend them and their actions in the coming war made the general public change their tune.
the Gen no longer stood for what people believed in and what was the right thing to do, they were now the Shirobai and were taking every opportunity to shake their honorable past in favor of long rooted prejudices.
those who fought honorably for the Gen switched sides and the Shirobai kept to protecting their own people.
In the end the overwealming number of people who disagreed with their ideas stopped fighting among themselves and turned on the Shirobai.
The Shirobai still operate the autorities and higher powers to some degree in Grenwuld though whatever power they had over Albion has waned and simply left people who are bitter of their fallen glory.
the Dao fought for the Shirobai and were internally conflicted morally right until the end of the war with the jury still out on what policies and beliefs they stand by.
however the reformation of the Dao lead to many Kanfel signing up for their forces somewhat nievely and acquiring this uniform and though most left again when they found who they were fighting for some stuck with the Dao as they associated with them and felt it wasn't their fault that they got dragged into the politics of the situation.
