The latest reveal by Alion has people scratching their heads.
We were lead to believe that Sam Vanila was Sam Wamm of Dark World
like Sam Trondash is the Sam Wamm of The Albion dimesion and Sam Durtok is the Sam Wamm of Oasis.
What's key is that in each of these circumstances the "Sam" in every different dimension has a unique surname, which enables us to tell them apart.
We can use that to tell what existence they're canon to right?
Well imagine our shock when in the universe that Sam Vanila exists (Dark World) which is widely regarded as the "real world" in the fandom,
due to the fact magic, the supernatural and science fiction stuff are all non-existent and the fact that the Albion universe exists as a work of fiction within it,
the name Sam Wamm turns up.
And this is no mere coincidence since every Sam has a rather unique backstory and yet Sam Wamm's backstory in Dark World maps
actly onto his story from the Sam fandom.
If you consider it from the perspective of the authorities in the Sam fandom universe, then the perspective of the authorities in Dark World regarding Wamm are actly the same,
what's more, seeing it from their perspective for once we get a clearer picture of the path of events regarding Wamm from the outside view.
In the early years the real Wamm sought out suicidal people and offered them a new life giving them his own identity as a fake identity.
As police methods improved this became impossible to keep up and the original Wamm ducked out abandoning the idea.
Fast forward a few decades and plastic surgery made it possible for people to physically take up Wamm's appearance and the long forgotten trend went back into motion this time minus the original Wamm.
However it wasn't long until DNA tracking followed and now they have the problem of the fact their original identities can be exposed through DNA detection.
In case you're wondering why the police even care, many of these missing persons cases happen without the suicidal tendencies being reported leading the authorities to believe they're kidnappings.
That's because these people come from places where abuse happens though it's well covered up and the authorities don't know about it.
That makes the authorities see the secrecy Wamm has as him covering something up and suspect he's using these vulnerable people to criminal ends.
Obviously there's a few bright sparks that have real
the goal of these abductions seems to be to abduct more people which makes no sense if he's acquiring them for criminal means.
From the Sam Fandom we know the reason is because of the sanctuary so we know why.
The weird part is, if that's the reason then the authorities are yet to find out that magic is real and Sam is offering asylum to mythological creatures.
If that's true that means that magic IS possible in Dark World and then maybe we might have seen Vanila use it once or twice and mistaken it for something else since his use of it is rather mild.
I think Vanila has a protection spell since the police did discuss that even if Vanila doesn't age there's no way they would have survived to modern times because of the odds of dying in the past.

I think both Pho and Pulse are other people like Vanila who might have accidentally tapped into the system of magic despite lacking the knowledge and are using their basic understand to do magic on a minor scale.
Since we get to see Pulse's story we can see how a freak set of circumstances enabled them to discover some new form of vibration and with the use of science they were able to manipulate it after a lot of experimentation.
I think something similar happened with both Vanila and Pho, in Vannie's case it was more of an enlightenment while practicing martial arts and in Pho's case it was some sort of epifany regarding chemistry.
